The Pljevlja Coal Mine Company brings light and warmth to your home, extracting valuable brown lignite generously bestowed upon us by the nature of Pljevlja. Our coal is of special quality—an exceptional formula of moderate calorific power that protects your heating systems and aggregates, with a very low percentage of sulfur and other harmful substances that safeguard your health.

The energy and persistence we put into the continuous production process for the Thermal Power Plant—which, regardless of weather and other conditions, must not stop because of us—demonstrate our commitment and devotion to the ambition of warmth and light, for your comfort and peaceful sleep.

With our vast experience and production results, we confirm that the center of Montenegro’s mining industry is in Pljevlja, and that the strength of our knowledge and the value of our product are important to our town, our country, and the region.

We strive, as much as possible, to give back to nature and the town what we take through the exploitation process, investing in sports, healthcare, and culture, leaving behind reclaimed land, sports centers, and landscaped walkways.

The current situation, in which we are making efforts to return to the broad consumer market and to the positions we once rightfully and indisputably held, reignites our passion to fight for every customer in the region, for every truck loaded with our quality coal that goes out to make someone’s life warmer and better. At the same time, it reminds us of the necessity of long-term planning, structural organization, and process optimization.

The mission of the Coal Mine for the year 2016 is for the management team—composed of experienced individuals proven as true experts in their work—to implement an organizational transformation through which they will:

• optimize and speed up internal processes by clearly defining responsibilities and authorizations
• modernize the Company, thereby significantly reducing operating costs
• overcome the current heavy reliance on a single customer
• prepare the Company for the period of parallel operation of two blocks of the Thermal Power Plant
• intensify changes in the Company’s culture
• precisely align capacities within the production chain
• create the foundation for a clear market orientation, sustainable production, and development.

The values that built this Company and should be preserved are certainly dedication to fulfilling work tasks, relationships with clients, relationships with the community, and especially with Pljevlja, whose mineral wealth we exploit and which deserves our attention.

The Pljevlja Coal Mine represents a pillar of economic activity in Pljevlja and its surroundings. Besides the thermal power plant, which is and will remain the most significant, the Mine also counts cement plants, brickyards, food processing industries, steelworks, and other intensive heat energy consumers among its clients. In addition, there are various forms of heating for residential and commercial spaces, both in organized and individual sectors. Given the established reserves of ore, all of them can count on the availability of our coal in Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, and some other areas—for decades to come.

Thanks to extensive experience and knowledge nurtured over many years, as well as adequate equipment in expert hands, the Mine is also expanding its activities to concessionaires, mining and construction companies, local governments, and major construction project holders—offering them services in the fields of: exploratory drilling, geodetic surveying, mining-geological design, blasting (ANFO), testing in accredited laboratories, and finally, material for the reclamation of contaminated surfaces.
